Jim Furyk has officially blocked out the dates for his next two Septembers.
Furyk, who was named captain of the U.S. Team for the 2024 Presidents Cup six days earlier, has been named vice captain for 2023 Ryder Cup.
Furyk will join Steve Stricker, Davis Love III and Zach Johnson as vice captains of Zach Johnson’s team heading to Marco Simone Golf & Country Club near Rome, Italy. The PGA of America announced that more vice captains will be named for 2023 at a future date.
The U.S.-European biennial competition is scheduled for September 29 to October 1.
Johnson stated in a Monday statement that he and Jim have been friends for over 20 years. He’s a great leader, a mentor, and someone I can trust. He knows what it takes for a person to compete at a high level and to be able to work as a team. “I will rely heavily on his experience in the run-up to Marco Simone’s match in September.”
Furyk served as the U.S. Ryder Cup Captain in France in 2018. He was also a vice-captain in 2016 at Hazeltine National Golf Club and in 2020 at Whistling Straights.
