He was well known for sneaking in golf course trips in between his concert tours. Buffett, for example, sneaked in a golf round while performing in Dublin. And while performing in Paris, he shared pictures of St. Cloud Country Club.

The musician also caddied for Patricia Ehrhart during a practice round for the 2018 U.S. Senior Women’s Open. The tournament was held at Chicago Golf Club, but he played at Wrigley Field the following week.

A report from USA Today states that died peacefully… surrounded his friends, family, music, and dogs.

Buffett was forced to cancel several concerts in 2022 due to an undisclosed illness. He cancelled more concerts in May and June of 2023 after revealing that he had “returned to the hospital” for some urgent issues.

Buffett wrote a slew of popular culture classics during the 1970s, including his 1977 hit “Margaritaville”, a languid ode about relaxation with a buzzy twist that was submitted to National Recording Registry 2023.

Come Monday, “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” Changes in Latitudes and Changes in Attitudes,” A Pirate Looks at Forty,” and “Pencil Thin Mustache,” were all alternately thoughtful and silly. All of them shared Buffett’s trademark sound, which he called “trop rock” or “Gulf and Western,” and included acoustic and steel guitars, steel drums, and pedal steel guitars.

Buffett was born on Christmas Day 1946, in Pascagoula in Mississippi. He grew up nearby in Mobile, Alabama where his grandfather taught him to love sailing.

Check out some of Buffett’s documented golf trips, including one where claimed he’d scored a hole-in-1.
