Jordan Spieth wants to ‘ice off my brain a little’ after PGA Championship, where he failed to achieve the career Grand Slam.

May, 2023

Jordan Spieth, who has been battling a bad wrist for 72 holes at Oak Hill said he would “like to ice my mind a little bit.”

Spieth made five birdies on Sunday, a day after he failed to complete his career Grand Slam for the seventh consecutive time. He finished the round in 1-under-69, and had a 72 hole total of 5-over-285. Spieth, who withdrew from the 105 th PGA Championship last week due to a left wrist fracture, finished T-30.

Spieth stated, “Two week ago, I would have easily signed up for this.” “And it’s weird to hear me say that in a major.”

Spieth had been on a roll before the injury. He finished T-3 at The Masters and lost in a play-off at the RBC Heritage. He was considered one of the favorites for the PGA.

“I was thrilled to be able to do this, and I’m sure I was, when I left Hilton Head, but I started going downhill,” he explained.

Spieth played in the Wells Fargo Championship a couple of weeks ago, and he tweaked his spine on Monday morning. He played badly and took it easy for the next few days. He injured his wrist late on Friday.

He said, “It is life. It’s what happens.” “My expectations changed. “I didn’t expect to be here.”

Spieth stated that he prayed to God for his wrist’s recovery. He gave credit to his team for helping him heal so that he could grip the club and be able swing at full power.

Spieth stated that “hockey players wouldn’t have even told anyone about this and would’ve returned to play.”

He was ranked second in Strokes Gained Off the Tee for the week. His short game was the problem – he was ranked 63 rd for SG: Putting, 73 rd for SG: Around The Green and 11/24 in scrambling.

Spieth says his wrist injury has improved and that he plans to play at the Memorial and Charles Schwab Challenge in the next two weekends. He is a former champion of the Charles Schwab Challenge. He said all he needed to do was take a good ice dip and put this week behind him.

It’s my passion and I would never trade it for anything. But after a week of hard work, your brain can be a bit fried. You hear people shouting at you when you walk between the holes and you feel a ringing in your ear. So, for me, I take a break, take a rest day and then I’m good to go.”
