Jordan Spieth, a fan favorite, announced that he had withdrawn from 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson due to a wrist injury.
Spieth missed the cut in last week’s Wells Fargo Championship after scoring 72-77. Scottie Scheffler, a fellow Texan, was to be the main attraction at TPC Craig Ranch, McKinney in Texas this week, as top players prepare for the PGA Championship the following week.
Spieth posted on social media that he had pain in his wrist left last weekend, and doctors told him to rest.
Spieth said in his message, “The AT&T Byron Nelson is a very special tournament to me. I am disappointed that I will miss it this coming week.” The opportunity to play in Dallas in front of family and friends is one of my highlights each year. The tournament staff and volunteers in Dallas are also second-to-none. I hope to be back next year, and for many years afterwards.

Spieth, who is originally from Dallas, has played in 11 Byron Nelsons. He was 16 when he made his debut in 2010. He finished second in the Byron Nelson last year.
The PGA Championship is the only major title he’s yet to win. It’s not clear if this will prevent him from playing or hinder his ability to do so.
George McNeill has taken Spieth’s place. Lanto Griffin, D.J. Camilo Villagas (Kyle Stanley) and Michael Thompson, (D.A. Points in).
