GREENSBORO (N.C.) — Justin Thomas was once asked in May what he most missed while on a gluten-free and dairy-free diet.
He said “I want pizza you can’t even imagine” during a Wells Fargo Championship press conference. “I would do some really bad things just to get a pizza drenched in ranch.”
Thomas celebrated his six-month dairy-free diet last week by eating three gluten-free pies in Blaine, Minnesota, while attending the 3M Championship.
He said, “It was the first pizza I’d had since January. I almost cried,” on Saturday at Wyndham Championship.
When asked if the diet had improved his energy, he replied, “This is my fourth consecutive week, I’ve missed two cuts but I feel pretty well.”
Thomas deserves praise for giving up one of his guilty pleasures in pursuit of greatness. Thomas has shown that he is willing to do anything in order to achieve greatness, even though he hasn’t won this season and endured his worst slump. He said he has several months left to finish his quest to go a year without gluten.
