The TGL announced on Tuesday that Justin Thomas had signed with Atlanta Drive GC. He is the first TGL player to join an official team.
Thomas stated in a press release that he was excited to be a part of TGL’s Atlanta Drive GC and to work with Arthur Blank, whose diverse businesses are expanding their golf portfolio. It feels like a good fit to me to align myself with such a businessman. I promise that our team will work hard to win championships, and have fun on the way. We will represent Atlanta as best we can while growing the game worldwide through this unique TGL Format.”
Thomas’ 2022-23 PGA Tour didn’t turn out as planned, but his record speaks for itself. Thomas has won 15 times, including the 2017 PGA Championship and 2022 PGA Championship. Thomas has played for the United States in six team events, including the Presidents Cups of 2017, 2019, and 2022 and the Ryder Cups of 2018, 2020, and 2023.
Blank and AMB Sports and Entertainment are the owners of Atlanta Drive GC, which also owns Atlanta United, Atlanta Falcons and PGA Tour Superstores. The TGL, a technology-infused league, is led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy through their joint venture TMRW Sports.
