Justin Thomas, a Rome resident, does not have receipts.
Thomas, however, is more modest and classy. I understand that this is not how some would react after they have proven their doubters wrong. Thomas doesn’t give a damn what people said about him on social media after Zach Johnson selected the (by his standards) struggling golfer for the U.S. Ryder Cup Team.
Thomas was paired up with Jordan Spieth for a practice session against Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele and other teammates at Marco Simone Golf Club on Tuesday, not Keegan Bradly, Cameron Young, or Dustin Johnson.
Thomas admitted, “I haven’t saved the receipts.” “I don’t think there’s anything good that could come out of that.” It doesn’t really matter what happened after I was selected, especially when you are talking about people or stuff on the internet. Everyone has an opinion, and they think theirs are the best and everyone else’s are wrong. At least, that’s how it seems. “I knew that nothing good would come out of social media or anything online, so I avoided it.”
The former world No. 1 says, “Ignore the outside noise and get on with your work.” The former world No. The former world No. 1 has risen from a low of seven years (24th place) to the highest ranking in the world.
Thomas hasn’t won on the PGA Tour in 16 months, since the 2022 PGA Championship. Thomas has missed more cuts since then than he’s made top 10s in the last 16 months.
Zach Johnson’s choice of Thomas is the best one he could have made.
“He hates losing,” Schauffele said. “He gets up to these.” You can see a lot of emotion, raw emotion, from him than you would normally at a tournament or PGA Tour.
Cantlay stated that “he is not afraid of the situation and loves to play matches.” “His record is a testament to his abilities. He was the best Ryder Cup golfer probably in the past decade. “I think that if you get the chance to have him on your team you will want him.”

Spieth stated that Spieth loves the “heightened pressure” and the opportunity to “raise the (home) audience up, but also to calm and upset them here. It creates a certain level of concentration for him.
“I have been with him at these Ryder Cups, and he plays better golf than those across from him.”
This is why Johnson was forced to defend his decision of picking a golfer ranked No. The Ryder Cup ranking is 15. Thomas, 30 years old, is in his third Ryder Cup. He has a 6-2-1 record, including a 4-1-0 record on his Ryder Cup debut.
Johnson concluded that it was “a pretty easy choice.”

Johnson said Tuesday that “recent form” is only part of what he considered when selecting some of his captains.
Johnson stated that Johnson has the ability to be a leader both vocally and without saying much. Johnson said that JT has a number of qualities, which I would call invaluable, when it comes this event. I can also say with full confidence to our six members of the team: These guys (who automatically qualified) wanted to have those six additional guys complete their team. JT was among them.

It’s hard to imagine that it was as tough as the Marco Simone course, which he will be playing in a few weeks.
Thomas is proud of his ability to win a race without using the best gear. Thomas said that was the most difficult part.
He said, “I didn’t feel that I could have won golf tournaments last year in the mental state I was in.”
Thomas missed the cut after he shot “a thousand”.
It wasn’t that bad. Thomas’s mood was worsened by a second-day score of 81, and a two-day total 14-over-154.
He said, “The U.S. Open had been a really bad experience for me.” “I shot 1,000 and finished almost last, despite playing the best golf in years. To be honest, that’s not a good feeling.
Thomas then said that the focus was on trying to make a Ryder Cup team, rather than the playoffs. He called this “a crazy concept,” but it was just how his “mind worked.”
He is now the only member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team who has not qualified for the FedEx Cup Playoffs in 2023.
The internet is full of vitriol.
Thomas explained that it was similar to anything else. “You have to work out what’s happening between your ears, just as I do with my wedges,” Thomas stated. Thomas said, “I feel that we have found a place where I can look at things differently and try to make them positive.
“And, also… playing better helps with that.”
