The Ryder Cup is a goal that most players from the United States and Europe strive to achieve. You play for something bigger than yourself. You can imagine how devastating it is to find out that you did not make the cut.
Keegan Brad is a good example.
Bradley is arguably the most egregious snub to Team USA, after a spectacular 2022-23 PGA Tour Season. The 37-year old finished in the top 25 ten times out of 23 starts. He also placed inside the top 10 on six occasions. Bradley was a local favorite, winning the Zozo Championship, and the Travelers Championship. The 37-year-old tied for ninth place at the Tour Championship, Atlanta. Zach Johnson was deciding whether he would be his captain’s choice.
In an interview with Barstool Sports ‘Foreplay’podcast Bradley related the story about the day he received the call from Johnson.
“I received a text message from Zach saying, Hey guys, I will be calling everyone tomorrow morning.” I thought, “Oh, sh*t, I have to sweat this out another night.” I woke up and got a call from Netflix, telling me, â€Keegan we have a five-minute camera crew near your homeâ€.
Bradley continued.
“For the very first time, let my mind think that I did it. Why would they rush a camera crew over to my house? As soon as I answered the phone, I heard a “Hey, Keegan…’ I looked over to Jill and said, “No.”
It was devastating.
Bradley has played in two Ryder Cups, 2012 and 2014. He is 4-3 with a 0-2 record on Sunday Singles.
Bradley tweeted this message on August 30.
In that week, I experienced some of the best and worst moments of my golfing career.
I am proud of all the work I did to create this incredible team.It wasn’t meant for you.
