Denny McCarthy led the Memorial until a final bogey forced him into a playoff with Viktor Hovland earlier this month. McCarthy lost to Hovland, who was still searching for his first PGA Tour win.
McCarthy, however, is well positioned to win his first trophy after 36 holes at the 2023 Travelers Championship.
McCarthy, who opened with a 10-under-par 60, completed the TPC River Highlands course in Cromwell in Cromwell in 65 shots, and took a half of the lead at 15 under par, along with Keegan Bradly, whom we will cover in a moment.
McCarthy, who had played the first nine holes in par, exploded on the turn and racked up birdies. Back-nine 30, with 10, 13, 14, 15, and 18.
McCarthy said, “I played some good golf before this tournament.” “Just try to improve every day.” I will go to the range to work on some of these things. “There are some things that I still think I can work on this weekend.”
