Last year, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship purse grew from $4.5 to $9 million. The purse has now jumped from $4.5 million to $9.9 million. The purse of the U.S. Women’s Open, which was $10 million last year, marked the first time that a woman’s purse had reached eight figures.
The winner will receive $1,500,000, while the second place finisher will get $889,964. The top 23 players this week will earn six-figures. After 36 holes, the field will be reduced to the top 70 players and ties. The expenses for this week will be covered by $4,000 for those who do not play the weekend. All players were given a Cadillac as a courtesy for the entire week.
This week is the first major women’s event to be held on Baltusrol’s Lower Course, since Mickey Wright’s 1961 U.S. Women’s Open victory.
