The tagline of the World Long Drive is “This Is Golf at Full Throttle” and this championship was no exception.
World Long Drive has announced that it will return in 2023. After a long and arduous season, three world champions have been crowned on the Bobby Jones Golf Course at Atlanta.
Ryan Reisbeck won the Senior Division Championship. He won the match with a winning drive of 372 yards against Robert Oristaglio.
Reisbeck said, “I have been working towards this goal for the past 13 years and I am thrilled to finally reach it.”
Kyle Berkshire defeated Sean Johnson in finals, and won his 398-yard drive to win his third world championship. Berkshire’s season was full of both successes and failures, but when it counted the most, he delivered.
Monica Lieving, who faced Phillis meti, a four-time champion of the world in the women’s finals, won her first championship with a 288 yard drive. Meti’s driving distances are not near Lieving’s usual range, but she went out of bounds six times on each ball. This resulted in Lieving winning the championship.
Lieving’s personal bests were 125.2 mph for clubhead speed, and 187 mph for ball speed. These are faster numbers than the majority of PGA Tour players.
The Kinetixx LD30+ 48″ shaft was used by all three players. Reisbeck, Lieving and Berkshire each used the Callaway Paradym long drive head.
Bobby Peterson, the coach of all three champions, trains them at One Stop Power Shop. Peterson has been coaching all three athletes over a number of years. These victories were achieved with sweat and tears.
