Laurel Valley Golf Club has named assistant coaches ahead of the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup

The 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup coaching team at Laurel Valley Golf Club is coming together.

Matt Clark and Kortnie Maxitopoulis Barrett will be the assistant coaches for the United States in Ligonier (Pennsylvania), while Rhyll Brinsmead will be the International assistant coaches.

In January 2021, Barrett joined San Jose State as an assistant coach. In 2021-22, she was instrumental to their success. The Spartans won 2022 Mountain West title and were the only school other than the Power 5 that advanced to the NCAA Championships. They finished seventh in stroke play, and advanced to match play, for the first time ever in program history. After one year at Rutgers, the Pleasanton, California native was at TCU for three years. She competed in 24 events while at TCU and was third at the 2015 Big 12 Championship. Barrett was named Big East All-Academic Honoree in 2011-12. She also had seven Rutgers top-10 finishes, including three wins.

In his sixth season as an associate head coach, Clark was awarded the TaylorMade 2022 Jan Strickland Outstanding Coach Award. North Carolina won three tournaments including the first two tournaments of this season for the first-time since 1996. It also advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in the 2021-22 season. After a successful playing career at South Florida (1993-1994) and Alabama (1995-1997), Clark started his coaching career in Tuscaloosa as an assistant coach for six seasons. He worked with Palmer Cup alumni, Jay Seawell and the GCAA Hall of Famer Dick Spybey.

Brinsmead, who started as the Minnesota women’s head coach in January 2021, is Brinsmead. She led the Gophers to two top-5 and eight top-10 finishes in her first two seasons. Four individuals also picked up top-10 finishes. Minnesota took second place at this fall’s Evie Odom Invitational. They did so by capturing the third round with a record breaking 17-under-par performance. All five players shot par or better, which was the first time in program history. A P.J. was also the Melbourne, Australia native. Boatright intern with the USGA, Central Texas Junior Golf Association. She launched the LPGA-USGA Junior Girls Golf Club in the region and led the ‘Hook a Kid on Golf’ junior camp.

Webb led the Volunteers to seven tournament wins in four and a quarter seasons at Tennessee. This includes the 2022 SEC Match Play Championship and their first NCAA Championships berth since 2021. Webb also has three PING All-America honorees. Webb, a native of Bracebridge in Ontario, Canada, played college volleyball at East Tennessee State. He won three Southern Conference championships, and helped the Bucs place third at the 1996 NCAA Championship. Webb then competed professionally across 11 countries, and was a fully-exempt participant on the Web.com Tour.
