Lilia Vu decided to go to the Taylor Swift Houston concert that night, after her flight at 8 p.m. was delayed due weather.
She became the first woman to win a major LPGA championship outside of the top 10 positions since Sherri Turner, who won the LPGA Championship 1988. Swift would have a wait.
Vu, her parents and their friends went to Thanh My restaurant in Westminster after landing at Los Angeles airport on Monday afternoon. They then packed up for another three week trip.
Vu won the JM Eagle LA Championship in her first major round with a 2-under-par 69. Vu, a UCLA student-athlete, played Wilshire Country club every Wednesday with her team.
Vu said that returning to the LA club was a nostalgic experience. “There’s no other golf course like Wilshire,” he added. In my opinion, you can’t really compare them to anything because they are so different than the usual LA courses that surround us. It’s not an easy course. It’s going to be hard. “I think it will be hard for everyone”
