LIV Golf will make some major changes in 2023.
After Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and others claiming Greg Norman should be fired as commissioner and CEO for the upstart circuit supported by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Norman will now hold an elevated position in the company as LIV continues to make leadership changes ahead its second year.
Majed Al Soorour, the Golf Saudi Federation’s CEO, will resign as LIV Golf’s managing director, but he will remain one of seven LIV Golf board member. Sports Illustrated was the first to report the news.
LIV Golf released a statement to Golfweek stating that Majed Al-Sorour was and will be an integral part of LIV Golf. “Majed was pivotal in the support of LIV Golf’s launch. Majed can now focus his efforts on other interests as the business transitions into its first season with a new broadcast partner.
Majed’s contributions and hard work are greatly appreciated. LIV is now on a new stage.
The SI report also contained the complete schedule for LIV Golf’s transition to its league format of 2023. Seventeen of the 14 events had been announced. The league will resume play on February 24-26 at Mayakoba, Mexico. The league will return unexpectedly to Saudi Arabia for the season-ending team championship. It will also conclude a month earlier than originally planned.

In 2023, the Trump National stop in Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. will also be new. The team championship took place at Trump National Doral last year, but the event at the former president’s club near Miami this year will be a regular-season tournament.
LIV Golf and the CW Network reached an agreement last week.
