LIV Golf League 2023 begins to take shape with stops made in Mexico, Singapore, and Spain

The 2023 schedule for the LIV Golf League is beginning to take shape.

Golfweek confirmed El Camaleon Golf Club, Riviera Maya, Mexico to host LIV’s inaugural event, February 24-26. This club, which has hosted the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technologies Championship, at Mayakoba, was previously a regular venue for the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technologies Championship. Greg Norman, the CEO of LIV Golf, designed and had strong ties with the resort and tournament organizers.

On Wednesday, the Saudi Arabia-backed circuit announced that Mexico would host an event. It also announced two other international stops: Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore (April 28, 30, and Real Club Valderrama (June 30, July 2). LIV had previously announced that an event would take place at the Grange Golf Club, Adelaide, Australia, April 21–23. This is the same venue where Norman won his first professional victory in 1976.

LIV previously stated that they would not go head-to-head against majors and would stay clear of “heritage events” on the PGA Tour such as the Memorial or Arnold Palmer Invitational. The opener in Mexico will take place opposite the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. While the Australia event will take place the week after the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, The Singapore event will be held the same week that the Mexico Open. The Spain stop will take place the week after the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

The team rosters for the 14-event series in 2023 are still being finalized. 12 teams and 48 people will compete for $405 million in prize money.
