Golfweek has announced that the 2024 PGA Tour schedule is going through major changes in its “designated events”.
The designated events currently have a 120-man field and a cut. According to the new report, the fields will shift to 70-80 in 2024 with no cut. This report has sparked strong reactions from players, media and golf fans.
LIV Golf responded with a tweet, accusing the PGA Tour to imitate their model.
The greatest form of flattery is imitation. Congratulations, PGA Tour. Congratulations PGA Tour.

Some golfers also voiced their opinions on the schedule changes.
Don’t bother with WGC’s. Load the OWGR to your favor. You can create 10 events in a limited field for PGA tour members (like WGC’s). You can also add 4 majors,Players and FedEx cups. This is a busy schedule for a top player. How do you grow the game? What Strategic Alliance?

Patrick Cantlay discusses the benefit of no cut
“The best thing is to lock down the stars who play in those events for 4 days. You can watch Tiger Woods if you are a little child who can’t go to the event on Sunday. Rory? You can watch him. That’s powerful.” pic.twitter.com/KMGW9rt7se

Max Homa lets it rip
“I saw frustration in the fact that the fields were small. The part that is misunderstood here is that if these events were made very large, it would ruin events not designated. They will be destroyed. They are too difficult to fit into your schedule. pic.twitter.com/MeaNl2X55x
