Patrick Reed’s $750 Million Defamation Lawsuit, originally filed in Texas on Aug. 16, and later refiled in Florida in the following month, was dismissed.
The lawsuit claimed conspiracy, defamation and injurious falsehood, and that the defenders acted “in concert with joint tortfeasors”.
Reed’s lawyer Larry Klayman stated earlier that the PGA Tour and its ‘partner’ NBC’s Golf Channel have a mission to destroy a top LIV Golf Tour players, his family and all LIV Golf players in order to advance their agenda and alleged collaboration efforts to destroy the LIV Golf Tour. These malicious and calculated attacks, as alleged in the Complaint have created hatred, aided, and abetted hostile workplace environments, and caused significant financial and emotional harm to Mr. Reed’s family.”

According to court records , U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan dismissed Friday’s case. Corrigan stated in his order of dismissal that Reed’s Complaint doesn’t fit into any of the four types shotgun pleadings. However, it fails to notify the Defendants of the basis of each claim. Reed makes 120 factual claims and then incorporates all 120 into each count. Reed tries to allege civil conspiracy and defamation violations against each defendant; causes of action that require very different factsual allegations.
Reed’s lawyers will have until December 16 to file an amended petition in connection with the judge’s orders.
Klayman has filed a $250 million new suit against a variety of prominent golf media members and organisations, including author Shane Ryan and Fox Sports’s Hachette, New York Post, Fox Sports and Associated Press golf writer Doug Ferguson, and the organization for which he works.
Klayman announced Monday that he filed a Second Amended Class Action complaint in Palm Beach County’s 15th Judicial Circuit. This alleges an antitrust conspiracy to stop trade and harm golfers in Florida.
