One of the popular picks for the U.S. Women’s Open has been disqualified in the first round of the tournament.
Natthakritta vongtaveelap, competing in her U.S. Women’s Open debut, was disqualified after her caddie repeatedly used a distance-measuring device during the round. Kathryn Belanger, a USGA rules official, made the decision to disqualify Natthakritta Vongtaveelap.

The 20-year old Vongtaveelap is likely to have been confused because range finders can be used at many LPGA events but are still illegal at the U.S. Women’s Open.
Vongtaveelap had not even reached the halfway mark when she was disqualified.
