LPGA Q-Series is a eight-round tournament that will see 100 players tee off this week. It begins Dec. 1st and ends Dec. 11. The first week’s competition will take place at the RTJ Trail Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama at the Crossings and Falls golf courses.
After the first week, the field will be reduced to 70 players and any ties. Highland Oaks Golf Course, Dothan, Alabama will host the second week of competition.
In 2023, 45 players will be granted LPGA status. This was the first year professional players had to become professionals before they could enter Q-Series. Six players became professional for this week: Nataliya Guseva (Minji Kang), Ashley Lau, Heather Lin and Valery Plata.
The final stage automatically advances players whose ranking is in the top 75. These players are Yuna Nishimura (44) Hae Ran Ryu (51) or Minami Katsu (56)
The LPGA Priority List will grant Category 14 status to players who place in the top 20 Q-Series players. The category 15 status and Epson Tour status Category Category C are awarded to those who finish between 21 and 45 and tiebreakers.
All those who finish all four rounds are eligible to earn Epson Tour status.
The field this year features a diverse group of players that includes former college hotshots, up and coming stars, and even a former Netflix star.
Dewi Weber said, “No one really wishes to be here,” and was 101st on this year’s CME points list, just one position short of a full card.
Q-school vibes are really, really strange. Although I was a rookie in the LPGA, I feel like I’m a veteran when it comes Q-school. I’ve done this four times now, even though I don’t want to.
