LPGA’s Texas stop ends after 11 years

Nov, 2023

The LPGA’s annual Texas stop has been dropped from the schedule in 2024. Hyo Joo won the Ascendant LPGA Benefitting Volunteers of America this year by four strokes.

Inbee, a LPGA Hall of Famer, won the tournament in 2013, which was originally called North Texas LPGA Shootout. She repeated this feat in 2015. In 2015, the event was renamed to Volunteers of America North Texas Shootout. In 2018, the event moved to The Colony’s Old American Golf Club.

Three Texas-based players have won this event: Stacy Lewis (2014, Cheyenne Knight 2019 (pictured above), and Angela Stanford 2020.

In a press release, tournament organizers said that Outlyr and the LPGA Tour remain committed to Dallas for the long-term and will continue to search for a partner who can bring the event to The Colony. We are grateful to Golf Clubs of The Tribute, and The Colony, for their support over the past six years.

Volunteers of America is a long-time partner of LPGA Tour. They will continue to provide support for the LPGA Tour in 2024 as they re-allocate their resources. Cypress Ascendant has been a great supporter over the past two years.
