Lydia Ko dropped from the top 100 on the CME points list to outside of it. What does this mean for next year? What does this mean for the next year?

Nov, 2023

Lydia Ko has been on top of her game for a little over a year now. Last year, Ko was enjoying what she called “a Cinderella Story”, winning the postseason awards during a comeback. The year ended with an idyllic wedding in South Korea.

Ko will now tee it up in this week’s Annika driven By Gainbridge At Pelican Event, hoping to sneak into top 100 of the LPGA priority lists. Top 100 CME positions are full card holders. Ko is currently ranked 101.

Ko, on the other hand, who shot a 3-under-par 67 in his opening round at Pelican Golf Club on Thursday, is not like many players outside of the top 100. She has choices.

If Ko finishes outside the top 100 in the list of points this season, then she will not be eligible to play in the winners’ category for 2024. The category 4 winners includes the two previous seasons and the current season. Ko won three times between 2022 and 2023.

The second option that Ko can use is the Category No. The second category includes the top 20 players on the Career Money List at the end of the last season. This category allows players to compete twice during their career. Ko currently ranks fifth in the career money list, with $16,919 487.

Ko, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, has set her sights on Paris and the LPGA Hall of Fame next summer. She is currently two points short of the 27 required to qualify.

Ko has currently 228.571 CME Points. Azahara Munoz is currently occupying the 100 th position with 234.273 points. Ko would need to be 60th on the list or higher to qualify for CME Group Tour Championship which she won in the previous season. Bianca Pagdanganan is currently 60th at 528.780. Ko needs to finish at least first (500) or second (320) at Pelican in order to be considered.
