The 2023 Golfweek Senior Division National Championship was a thrilling end. Now, the West Coast senior swing continues at Palm Desert, California.

Seniors aged 55-75 and over hit the links for 54 holes to become champions. A few players were able to play their best golf in prime scoring conditions at Desert Willow Golf Resort’s Firecliff Course.

The Senior division, which includes 55-64 year olds, is dominated by three men. Stan Humphries and Kirk Maynord, along with Steven McPherson, all recorded rounds of 1-under-71. Seven other players are just behind them at even par. 55 players are within seven shots.

After matching rounds of 2 over, Scott Masingill (65-69) and Jeff Burda (65-69) share the Super Senior division’s top spot. Three players trail the leaderboard by three shots, while 11 other players are within five shots of the leaderboard.

The fountain of youth was found by three Legends Division players (70-74) Kerry Booth, Tom Yellin and George Walker all scored red with 12 birdies each.

Five men shot their age in the Super Legend division. Jim DuBois’ 1-over-73 led Denny Atkins and John Blank to achieve the amazing feat. Bob Lutz, John Seehausen, and Bob Lutz also reached it.
