HOUSTON – This is something you don’t see every single day.
After he finished his second round at the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course, Mark Hubbard was disqualified for violating Rule 4.1.1c.
What exactly did Hubbard do?
According to the PGA Tour, “Hubbard knowingly added a fifteenth club at the turn” and used it several times without declaring the club out of play.
According to the rules of golf, a player can only have 14 clubs in his bag at a time during a round.
It is not clear what club Hubbard purchased. Hubbard shot 75-74 (9 under) in his first two rounds and was likely to miss the cut for the third consecutive round.
