Max Homa began the Farmers Insurance Open final round five shots behind Sam Ryder. Homa was trailing by six with 16 holes remaining.
Homa shot 6-under 66 to win Torrey Pines. He also made two outstanding shots into the back-nine Par 3s, which resulted in birdies. This was his sixth PGA Tour victory. This is Homa’s second win of the 2022/23 Tour season. He also won the Fortinet Championship in Sept. and his fourth victory in California.
Homa was trailing in the final round for the fifth time and ended up winning. He was 13 under, two strokes in front of Keegan Bradley, and three ahead of Collin Morikawa.

Ryder’s 15th hole collapse was when his tee shot hit the right rough, and his second missed the green. His third shot was too long and ended up in the rough. He made double bogey, and added another on the 17th.
Ryder finished T-4 with Sungjae I and Sahith theegala after scoring 3-over 75 in round three.
Keegan Bradley was late to the game and shot the 6-under-66 round without bogey. His second shot, on the par-5 18, was into the bunker left side of the green. He couldn’t get up-and down for birdie. Bradley finished at 11 under, having won the Zozo Championship earlier in the season.
Jon Rahm was in second place and had a chance to win his third consecutive victory in the same series. He bogeyed his first hole, shot 3 over on his front nine, and entered the final round as 2nd. He was unable to overcome his poor start and ended up finishing at T-7 with a 2-over 74.
Homa was the talk of the round after he was mic’d during a hole. He said that he hopes it stays. He was the first person to be mic’d during a round, and he won. Others could follow his lead.
