Many former European Ryder Cup team members have moved to LIV Golf.

Rory McIlroy has just once more become the number 1 golfer in the world and said that he felt “betrayed” after the departure of his former teammates.

The 33-year old spoke out against players with whom he had a strong relationship in an interview with the Guardian

It’s strange. It’s the first time I feel betrayed in my entire life. It is a strange feeling for me. Ryder Cups are a great way to build relationships with people.

They know that they will be unable to participate in that event again.

Many former European Ryder Cup players, such as Graeme McDowell and Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson (Le Westwood, Ian Poulter) would have been eligible to become future Ryder Cup captains.

To join LIV, Stenson quit his captaincy in this year’s Ryder Cup. Garcia is a future captain and has won more Ryder Cups than any European player. McDowell would have made a great captain in Ireland in 2027. Due to their Ryder Cup history, Poulter or Westwood will undoubtedly be considered for the future.

McIlroy was not happy with the fact that these European golfers gave up on their future Ryder Cup glory.

‘There was a great chance for GMac (Graeme McDowell), to possibly be the Adare captain in 2027. Sergio’s legacy, like Poulter or Westwood, is largely Ryder Cup-based. I’d like to believe that the Ryder Cup is as important to them as it is to me. It might. But I know the potential consequences and could not make that decision .”

It might not be certain, but it could be the outcome. This is not a move that I would make. They felt the same .”

Golf Monthly reported in June that McIllroy and Garcia had become “bitter, personal”, following Garcia’s decision not to join LIV Golf.

McIlroy and Garcia were once a legendary Ryder Cup team. McIlroy was even an usher at Garcia’s wedding.

McIlroy’s personal relationship with Garcia has ended.

Rory told Sportsmail last month that he didn’t feel a close relationship with the Ryder Cup team at the moment. If you’re talking Ryder Cup, it’s not the future for the Ryder Cup team em>

“The future of The Ryder Cup is the Hojgaards, Danish twins Rasmuss and Nicolai, Bobby Mac (Robert MacIntyre), and whoever else is emerging. They are the future of The Ryder Cup Team. This is how we should think about .”

While the future will bring uncertainty to the golf landscape, one thing is certain: Rory McIlroy remains committed to the PGA Tour. He will also continue to speak out against LIV Golf.
