Angel Yin recalls a practice session she had with Cristiekerr at an LPGA Drive On in Georgia several years ago.
“She was walking, after she had hit a tee-shot off a practice course, and she said, ‘I am four days away before people know I’m back’,” said Yin.
“That’s confidence. “Just channel your Cristiekerr. ‘”
Yin, who hasn’t won on the LPGA yet, is co-leading the 2023 Chevron championship with Allisen Corporationuz. Corpuz is another American looking to win her first LPGA at the first major of the year. There are many players at the Club at Carlton Woods who are looking to make a breakthrough week, whether it’s a major or first LPGA win.
Only three players in a shared sixth place know what it’s really like to win a big tournament – Nelly Korda and Hyo Joo Kim. A Lim Kim won her first major in Houston, at the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open, at Champion Golf Club.
