Michelle Wie West did not just sign up for a tournament and hand out trophies. The major champion was involved in every aspect of this event. She helped to organize a sister program between the LPGA and the 24 AJGA Juniors who were competing, and she also helped shape the menu that players, caddies, and media members enjoyed at Liberty National.
Wie West, who spoke to the media at the Mizuho Americas Open 2023 on Tuesday said: “It was a dream that came true.”
The U.S. Women’s Open 2014 champion gave a series of clinics during the week. She also joined Golf Channel at the booth several times and worked closely together with the title sponsors to ensure this was the most player friendly event on the tour.
The event made an immediate impact on the LPGA. From the free hotel in Manhattan, to the breathtaking ferry ride each day to work to the Nike swag.
