The soft opening of Old Bridge Golf Club, Rose-Lambertson (nicknamed “The Rose”), ended the drought in New Jersey.
Owen Henry, the mayor of Old Bridge, was among a group that attended a ceremony this week to open a new building.
Henry, a network partner of the Courier News, said: “This is an amazing jewel that will be there for generations to come.”
The 18-hole course will not open until October, even though the driving range, miniature golf course, and putting green were opened on Thursday.

The project is situated on 218 acres owned by the township – the Rose & Lambertson Tract area, on both the north and the south side of Lambertson Road. The township purchased the property using state Green Acres funding in a series transactions.
The complex was designed by New Jersey golf architect Stephen Kay. It includes an 18-hole par-71 course, a 30-bay illuminated driving range, and a mini-golf course with water features, lighting and rolling terrain.
The clubhouse has a total of 6,000 square feet, including a pro-shop, concession area and cart barn, as well a maintenance building with 5,000 square feet and 110 parking spots. Rental electric carts are equipped with GPS screens.
The 18-hole layout is shaped by the topography and wetlands. The 9th hole is not a return to the clubhouse, unlike most American golf course. This is due to the unique features of the property.
The Rose is at the center of a public-private partnership worth more than 35 million dollars between 2020 Acquisitions, Inc. and the township.
