One major winner believes that the deal between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour to merge business operations will not last long.
Nick Faldo, ahead of the British Masters, spoke to The Belfry about LIV Golf and his future. He didn’t hide that he believes the Saudi-backed League won’t last.
Faldo stated, “Nobody is really interested.” “They won’t get the sponsorship they want.”
Six-time major champion also criticised the structure of LIV Golf, comparing it with the Ryder Cup.
You see your friends on the putting-green and you say ‘play well’. Then, you see them at the scorer’s tent and you say ‘what did you shoot? The team is there, shoulder-to-shoulder. “That’s the true team.”
He said, “You’ve got the ultimate team competition, the Ryder Cup. It has the passion and atmosphere.” They don’t play with the same intensity and passion as the Ryder Cup. ”
The future of the game of golf is unclear, but Phil Mickelson is optimistic. Faldo told Sky Sports that he believed LIV Golf was going to “fade out” because of the lack of interest.

Faldo, despite the criticisms of LIV Golf believes that the deal is good for the PGA Tour. It will expand golf to a global sport.
Faldo stated, “I believe that when the dust settles – whether it takes six or a full year – pro golf will be in a better financial position than back then.”
