Gabrelcik is a senior rising at North Florida. He was outstanding in the final round at the 117th Southern Amateur, held at The Honors Course, in Ooltewah Tennessee. He won the title with a score of 8-under-par 64. His 64 was his best round of week. He finished at 11 under par, beating Dylan Menante from North Carolina by one shot.
Heavy rains during the first round and second round caused many delays. The tournament was reduced to 54 holes.
The Southern Amateur will be the fifth of seven events in the Elite Amateur Series 2023. The player with the highest points at the end of seven events wins a PGA Tour exempt, which will be announced soon. They also get an exemption for the 2023 U.S. Open.
