Smith will join Harold Varner III, the defending champion, and the top-30 players at the Asian Tour at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, King Abdullah Economic City, February 2-5. More players will be confirmed over the next few weeks.
Smith released that “It’s always great to play in a top-class field, and I am looking forward taking on familiar faces as well as competing with the best the Asian Tour has had to offer,” he said. The $5 million prize purse is sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and SoftBank Investment Advisers. This growth equity firm also sponsors the event.
The past champions of the Golf Saudi event were Dustin Johnson, Graeme McDowell, and Varner. These three players have all been members of LIV Golf.
This event will take place the same week of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA Tour.
