NEWARK, Ohio — Virtues golf club issued a challenge last spring and Luke Sutton accepted.
Now, the Coshocton man, Ohio, is waiting for his reward. For anyone who hits a hole in one, the club offered a $10,000 promotional reward. Sutton scored an ace at hole No. 14 last May.
Sutton filed suit against Four Virtues Inc. on Tuesday in Licking Country Common Pleas Court alleging that the club isn’t fulfilling its agreement.
The suit states that defendant Virtues knew about the hole-in-one and used it and Plaintiff Sutton’s likeness as a way to promote the golf course and continue to promote $10,000 for a hole-in one.
Hung Chow was the general manager at Virtues Golf Club and said that he had been under the impression that Sutton was being paid. The matter was resolved.
Chow stated that he spoke to Ace Oasis’ operator and was informed that the matter was being taken care of. I will admit that your phone call caught me off guard. Ace Oasis, a promotional company, told me that they had paid Mr. Sutton $10,000 the last time I spoke with them. It was Saturday last year.
Sutton was honoured with a replica $10,000 check from club members later in May. The event was also covered by WHIZ-TV Zanesville.
Sutton still awaits the actual check five months later. Sutton is also seeking reimbursement for court costs, as well as additional damages.
“Defendant Virtues has not yet paid Luke Sutton $10,000 despite many promises. According to the suit, the money was due on May 14, 2022 and should be paid by Luke Sutton.
Chow stated that there is an insurance company behind the payouts. Chow stated that the insurance company had a policy that would prevent them from paying out to professionals. Luke Sutton, a golf professional, was also present. This is why insurance companies balk — I know this.
