It was announced that Padraig Harrington and Tom Weiskopf, Sandra Palmer and Johnny Farrell, as well as Beverly Hanson, will be joining the remaining seven LPGA Founders in 2024’s World Golf Hall of Fame Class of Fame Class of 2024.
Harrington has won 21 matches worldwide, including three majors. Harrington was part of six Ryder Cup teams, and was captain of the 2020 European team.
Harrington said, “This is very exciting. It’s obviously a great honor.” It’s a bit humble. It gives me validation of what I have done in golf at this point in my life. It brings back many memories. It’s a deep feeling of satisfaction and I feel very proud to have been included among the great players. It’s great to see your name alongside the names of my heroes as a young boy and golfer. Everyone on the ballot should be there. Although it is unfortunate that not everyone can be there, it’s great for all to be in the Class 2024.
Six LPGA founders, Patty Berg and Marlene Bauer Hagge were already present in the Hall – Louise Suggs (Babe Zaharias), Marilyn Smith, Betty Jameson, and Babe Zaharias (Patty Zaharias), respectively. Soon they will be joined by Alice Bauer and Bettye Danoff as well as Helen Dettweiler and Helen Hicks. Opal Hill, Sally Sessions, Shirley Spork, and Opal Hill.
Hagge is the LPGA’s only living founder.
The induction ceremony will be held at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, Pinehurst, North Carolina on June 10, 2024. It will also coincide with the 124th U.S. Open.
