Pat Perez is one of five pros who are out of contract, and at risk of losing their LIV Golf status.

Nov, 2023

LIV golf off-season has begun. Between now and 2024, the off-season includes a transfer window as well as free agency, trades, and a draft.

Phase I: Top 24, contract extensions. Peter Uihlein (12th place, 4Aces Golf Club), Anirban lahiri (13th place, Crushers Golf Club), Carlos Ortiz (15th place, Fireballs Golf Course), Richard Bland (20th place, Cleeks Golf Course) and Scott Vincent (2nd, Iron Heads Golf Course) are among these players. A player from this group who decides to not accept an offer by his current team will become a “free agent” and can be signed by any team that has a roster opening.

Phase 2. Free Agents In addition to the Top 24 players that choose to become free agents and whose contracts expire in 2023, those who placed 25th-44th (Open Zone), are also free agents. They can be resigned by their former team or negotiate with another team who has an available roster spot.

Phase 4: Abu Dhabi Golf Club Promotions Event (Dec 8-10). The top three finishers will receive a LIV Golf 2024 contract.

Trades & the Draft: Teams may trade players during the offseason if both teams approve the trade. In 2024, (exact dates will be announced), a mid-season trade window will allow teams to improve their rosters after the season begins. Teams and players can negotiate trades or extensions of their contracts if they are in the final year of their contract. After LIV Golf Promotions the league will hold the LIV Golf Draft where the winner of the International Series Rankings as well as the top three finishers from LIV Golf Promotions are drafted on the remaining teams with an open roster spot.

As the transfer window opens, some big-name golfers, including Pat Perez and Graeme McDowell could lose their LIV Golf places. They finished in the Open Zone (25th-44th), and must be resigned by their teams, or taken on by another team, to get a spot in LIV. Their LIV future remains uncertain.

Perez has had a lot of trouble with his game since he joined the LIV Golf tour in 2022. McDowell also hasn’t performed at his best in the Tour.

David Puig, a Spaniard, seems to have the best chance of securing the top spot. Puig had a strong season and in October won the International Series Singapore of the Asian Tour with five strokes. The former ASU Sun Devil, who is only 22 years old and one of LIV’s few rising stars, is one of the LIV’s potential rising stars.
