LIV is looking to add to the professional golf scene as well as provide entertainment for fans. LIV certainly achieves the former with its non-cut shotgun-start events, which feature music throughout the round. There are also countless activities in the fan village. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that you are actually at a tournament.
Officials hope to create a new revenue stream through franchising, which will allow the league to compete with the major American team sports, including the NFL, NBA and MLB.
The league format is more European-oriented than American. This is especially true with the new promotion and relegation system. LIV sees open competition as not only a cornerstone in its product but also as a way for it to be recognized as an important part of the professional golf landscape.
The LIV Golf Promotions Event, which will be held later in the year, will ensure that there are open pathways for golfers who want to join the 2024 LIV Golf League.
