Patrick Cantlay had nothing to celebrate Sunday in Italy, after the United States was defeated by Europe at the 2023 Ryder Cup. But he did on Monday.
Cantlay, 30 years old, married Nikki Guidish at the St. Regis 13 miles away, just a day following the 44th biennial match between Americans and Europeans. This year’s event was held at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, near Rome.
Guidish, who is a doctor in pharmacy, posted photos of the wedding on her Instagram account on Tuesday. She wrote “Yesterday, it was a dream”, and thanked the wedding planner, the photographer, and the staff. Justin Thomas and Jessica Korda, Cantlay’s Ryder Cup teammates, were in attendance.
Cantlay’s time in Rome was marred by controversy over his decision not to wear a cap. This became the talk of the town and led to an incident on the 18th Green Saturday night. Cantlay has now made two Ryder Cups and a total of five appearances. He is 5-2-1.
