If Patrick Cantlay wears a hat to the golf course in the year 2024, it will not feature the Goldman Sachs Logo.
Cantlay signed a golf deal with the bank for its first time. However, it will not be renewing its sponsorship of the eight-time PGA Tour champion. Goldman signed Cantlay to a three-year contract in 2020. A new one-year agreement was agreed upon at the beginning of 2023. DealBook and New York Times broke the news first.
A Goldman spokesperson told DealBook that “we constantly evaluate the firm’s partnerships and at this point, our logo won’t appear on his cap.”

Cantlay has made headlines over the past year for slow play on the course, and motivations off the course. His decision not to wear a cap was the subject of a story that went viral during the Ryder Cup earlier this fall in Italy. Cantlay claimed that the hats of the U.S. golf team didn’t fit. Multiple reports have claimed that it was a protest against the Ryder Cup players’ lack of payment.
Cantlay played 21 times on Tour this season, earning 16 top-25 finishes. He also finished as a runner-up at both the 2022 Shriners Children’s Open (Sci) and 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship (2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship).
