Is it too soon to call Patty Tavatanakit’s career resurgence at just 23?
Tavatanakit, one of the most highly regarded juniors to have emerged in recent years, had a scorching start to her career as a professional in 2019. Tavatanakit won three times in eight starts in the now-Epson Tour. She was named Rookie of the year and moved up to the LPGA for 2020.
The Thai won her first LPGA title in 2021 after a rookie season that was hampered by COVID-19.
Tavatanakit is one of a handful of golfers whose major championship was their first tour win. She won the ANA Inspiration in a five-stroke victory over Lydia Ko.
Tavatanakit has had three top-10 finishes in her eight major starts following that victory. However, she is on a streak of four consecutive missed cuts going into the major season 2023.
It will be fascinating to see if Tavatanakit can continue her quest for her second major championship after briefly competing at the Chevron.
