Paul Azinger won’t be returning to his role as NBC Sports lead golf analyst in 2024. This will end a five-year partnership between the network, and the 12-time PGA Tour champion.
A spokesperson for NBC Sports told Golfweek, “We would like to thank Paul’s work over the past five years.” His insights, work ethics and relationships within the golf industry are well-known, and we value what he has brought to our team. We wish Paul all the best for his future endeavors.
Azinger, who was the first to break the news on Sunday morning, expressed disappointment and surprise at the sudden decision. Azinger’s last event was in Italy for the Ryder Cup. He will miss next month’s Hero World Challenge where Tiger Woods, the tournament host , will be making his first appearance in a competitive setting since the Masters.
In the same year, Golfweek reported that in 2023, both Roger Maltbie (who had been a part of NBC’s golf broadcasts for many years) and Gary Koch would no longer be a part of the network. The network was looking to “refresh” their team. The network has a new big seat to fill.
