NORTH YORK (Ontario) — The shocking news that the PGA Tour’s, DP World Tour’s and Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund will partner to create a global golf entity, has brought back the debate in the golfing world about the role of Saudi Arabia in the September 11 attacks against the United States.
Bryson deChambeau beefed up his answer to the impossible question on Tuesday night. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan repeated this on a Wednesday. Jimmy Dunne, who appeared on Golf Channel Thursday to answer an impossible question, raised the bar.
Dunne said, “I’m quite sure – and i have spoken to a number of knowledgeable people – that the people with whom I deal had nothing whatsoever to do with the attacks which occurred 22 years ago.” “If anyone can find someone who was unambiguously involved, I will kill them.” “We don’t need to wait.”
LIV Golf, which is funded solely by the PIF, has been criticized for years as a way of Saudi Arabia to cover up its controversial record on human rights. This includes allegations of widespread human rights abuses including political motivated killings (including torture), forced disappearances, and inhuman treatment of prisoners.
The 9/11 Families group has pointed out LIV as an example of sportswashing, and has cited Saudi Arabia’s role in 9/11 attacks. This includes that Osama bin Laden and 15 of 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.
Jimmy Dunne is one of the two people who helped broker a deal between the PGA Tour, the PIF and other parties. He said on Golf Channel, if anyone could find someone who had been unambiguously involved in 9/11, he would kill them.

Dunne’s initial approach to PIF was a surprise, given his experience on September 11, 2001. The firm’s offices were located on the 104th level of the World Trade Center south tower. 66 coworkers, including Christopher Quackenbush, his mentor Herman Sandler and his friend of many years Christopher Quackenbush died that day in the terrorist attacks. Dunne could have been at the World Trade Center had he decided to play golf to try to qualify for U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
Dunne said, after his murderous threats, “but in reality, we have to come together as people.” There is too much division… Let’s understand and let’s demonstrate by example.”
The irony!
