On Sunday night, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan received the Roger Goodell Treatment.
Goodell is often booed at NFL events such as the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony or the NFL Draft. Monahan received the same reaction when he stepped up to the microphone to announce Viktor Hovland, the winner for the 2023 Tour Championship as well as the PGA Tour’s season-long race to win the FedEx Cup.
After taking time off from work to address a health concern, the commissioner returned to the office recently. However, he did not give his annual State of the PGA Tour Press Conference in advance of the season finale this week at East Lake Golf Club. Monahan spoke about his health, but remained silent on a pending agreement between the Tour’s Public Investment Fund and Saudi Arabia.
