The First Tee Phoenix, which celebrated its 20th anniversary on Monday night with a fundraising event featuring a “green carpet”, marked the occasion.
PGA Tour golfers Joel Dahmen, James Hahn, and others walked the celebrity-only green carpet in Ocean 44 in Scottsdale. Guests paid $1,500 per plate for the First Tee Program, which was first launched in 2003. Six golf courses host First Tee Phoenix programs including TPC Scottsdale which is home to the PGA Tour WM Phoenix open.
Other celebrities who attended the event on Monday included ESPN commentator Michael Wilbon; golf trick shot artist Tania Tania Tare; PXG founder Bob Parsons; former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, and former Vice President Dan Quayle.
First Tee is a network of 150 chapters in the United States. Its goal is to connect junior golfers aged 4-18 years old from underserved areas with golf. First Tee says that more than 120,000 junior golfers are involved in its program.
Jeff Mastro, the owner and founder Ocean 44, as well as popular Scottsdale steakhouses Steak 44, and Dominick’s Steakhouse hosted the event, and covered the cost of the night.
The night was attended by about 180 people and raised almost $1 million.
