The fact that a DP World Tour tournament featuring LIV golf chairman Yasir al-Rumayyan will be shortened to just 54 holes is only fitting.
It was announced on Sunday that due to the waterlogged courses the final round for the 2023 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will be moved to Monday, October 9, and the pro-am competition will be reduced to only 54 holes. The top 30 teams, and any ties, are to make the 36-holes cut. Matt Fitzpatrick is currently leading at 13 under. Grant Forrest, Nacho Elvira and T-2 are at 12 under.
The weather has been a concern for the annual event held at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, two of the finest golf courses in Scotland. The tour reported about 3.11 inches in rain since the end Friday of play.

The event, which was hosted by three of the world’s best hosts, made headlines last week, when it became known that Al-Rumayyan would be playing the pro-am as Andrew Waterman, the governor of Saudi Arabia’s lucrative Public Investment Fund. The 53-year old is also playing alongside LIV Golf’s Peter Uihlein, who was in the same group with R&A Chief Executive Martin Slumbers. Non-members Talor Gooch (72), Louis Oosthuizen (42) and Laurie Canter (16) are all LIV members.
