Pinehurst Resort, North Carolina, has announced the official opening date of its new Tom Doak designed golf course – April 3, 2024.
Doak is currently building Pinehurst No. The Pit was a course which opened in 1985, but closed down during the financial crisis of 2008. Doak’s design will be the first course to open at the famed Pinehurst Resort for nearly 30 years. No. The resort will host the U.S. Open at its No. 2 course, June 13-16, on the No. 10 course. 2 course June 13-16.
The U.S. The Golf Association is constructing a campus, which is currently under construction. It is scheduled to open by 2023. The resort was also selected as the anchor site for U.S. The tournament is scheduled to take place in 2024, as previously mentioned, and also 2029, 2035, 41, and 47.

Pinehurst Resort will unveil its first golf course in 30 years, the Tom Doak-designed one. Construction began this January. The opening of this course comes just months before Pinehurst hosts the U.S. Open, for the fourth consecutive time.

Doak’s latest design is based on the natural landscape of North Carolina Sandhills golf, which includes native wiregrass, expansive sandscapes, towering tallleafs pines, and rolling hills. Doak uses rugged dunes that were carved by mining operations at the turn of 20th century to create a course halfway through. The course is spectacular with an elevation change of more than 75 feet. It offers a unique golfing experience.
“No. The course starts off fairly gently, but then goes into the old quarries where it becomes downright crazy. Finally, the course reaches the top of the hill with a stunning view, says Doak. Even when you are in the more gentle terrain, the holes that come into play are still challenging. The golf course is more dramatic than I thought.
