The fourth and last putter of the Ping Slam Limited Edition will be available on July 18, 2023. It commemorates Seve’s 1988 British Open win.
Ping’s Slam Pal putters were made available to commemorate Sandy Lyle winning the 1988 Masters. This feat had never been accomplished before. Ping released 88 Ping Slam Pal putters to commemorate Sandy Lyle’s 1988 Masters victory. 88 Limited Pal 2 Putters in a natural finish honoring Jeff Sluman’s win at Oak Tree Golf Club were sold. Last month, before The U.S. Open at The Country Club, 88 Limited Zing2 putters were sold to honor Curtis Strange’s 1988 U.S. Open triumph at The Country Club.
John A. Solheim is the executive chairman of Ping. He said in a press release that, “Even though it was at the time the third major championship of the year, it’s appropriate to finish this part of the celebration of the ‘Ping Slam,’ by recognizing Seve’s win at Open Championship of that year.” Seve was the most accomplished and loyal Anser user. He won 47 victories with it, which included all five of his major titles. Seve’s victories can be seen in three rows in the Ping Gold Putter vault. They have made the Anser putter the most successful of all time.
The limited edition PLD Anser has been milled, and given an antique finish to make it look like Ballesteros’s original Anser in tarnished manganese bronze. This Anser, just like the putter of the Spanish Hall of Famer, has a floating surface, also known as a “sound slot”, cut into the sole to give it a crisper sound and feel.
The Sing Slam putters are only available in 88 pieces, starting at 2 pm. On Tuesday, ET for $990 at pingpld.com. The previous Ping Slam putters that were offered in 2023 all sold out within minutes.
Ping will offer 35 sets of four PLD putters, each with a display unit, for $4,990 on Dec. 5, 2023.
