The FedEx Cup Playoffs 2023 concludes this week at Tour Championship. The winner will receive $18 million in bonus money (before tax).
This is the 17th year of the playoffs. PGA Tour players had to compete in 46 events before they could reach the final.
Top 70 FedEx Cup point scorers made it to the postseason. The top 50 advanced to Week 2, and only the top 30 reached East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta.
Rory McIlroy is the first person to win the FedEx Cup three times. He recovered from six shots behind a year earlier in order to catch up with Scottie Scheffler.
Money
The FedEx Cup is awarded to the winner of the Tour Championship. They receive $18 million as bonus money. The second-place finisher gets $6.5million, third place earns $5million, and so on down to the 30th position, which is worth $500,000.

East Lake is offering a bonus of up to $75 million.
The format
The PGA Tour has decided to continue using the FedEx Cup Starting Strokes that were introduced in 2019. The system is a staggered one, where the golfer who starts the Tour Championship in the first position will be 10 under par.
