Gear: PXG0311 GEN6, 0311XF GEN6 drivers

Specifications: Heads measuring 460 cubic centimeters with titanium faces and bodies, carbon fiber crowns, movable soleweights, and adjustable hosels. Lofts: 7.5 to 9 and 10 degrees (0311); 9. 10.5 to 12 degrees (0311XF);

Who they’re for: For golfers who desire maximum stability and forgiveness, but not sacrifice their ball speed.

The Skinny: Sixth generation 0311 and 0311XF drivers have three movable weights placed around the sole. They are more forgiving than previous generations. While the standard model emphasizes ball speed and the XF model provides extra stability by having a higher moment of inertia, the XF model offers more.

The Deep Dive: This inspirational quote was first written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery before it became a popular office motto. He believed perfection can be achieved when there is no more to add but also when there is nothing to take away. You can make something more by removing the unnecessary and focusing on what is important.

PXG’s newest driver, the 0311 GEN6 & 0311 XF GEN6 – were developed by engineers from PXG. Many of the brand’s previous technologies have been lost. The internal honeycomb-structured, thermal plastic elastomer system that dampened vibration, goodbye. Nope. The aluminum-vapor coating, which stiffened carbon fiber crowns. The remaining features are designed to improve golfers’ ball speed, stability, and forgiveness.

PXG 0311 GEN6 drivers sport faces made of Ti412 titan.

The volume of the standard 0311 and 0311 XF GEN6 drivers is 460 cubic centimeters. They have a face made from a proprietary titanium alloy called Ti412. PXG stated that it is strong, but has a low elastic module, which means it’s flexible, making it an ideal material to use as a driver’s face. To increase the sweet spot and protect the ball speed when hitting off-center, the variable-thickness hitting zone is smaller in the perimeter.

The large crown made of carbon fiber has a matte black finish. This reduces glare during sunny days. But, its greatest benefit is that it weighs less.

Designers were able to add three weight ports to the soles of the 0311 and the 0311 XF. Each club is standard with a 7.5-gram back weight and heel port weights, and a 2.5 gram toe weight. This gives the clubs a draw bias.

Fitters can choose from eight weights, which can reach up to 20 grams. A heavier heel promotes face closure and draws, while a heavier toe can cause a bias. The back of your head should be heavier to increase the moment of inertia, stability, and promote a more flying shot.

The 0311/0311 XF-GEN6 drivers come with an adjustable hosel. This allows players and fitters the ability to adjust the loft by up to 1.5 degrees.

The standard 0311 GEN6 driver features a higher crown, a longer face, and a pear-shaped address position. This should make it more appealing for golfers who prefer a traditional-looking driver. The 0311 XF GEN6 driver is slightly less aerodynamic, so golfers will be able to achieve more clubhead speed with it.

The 0311 XF GEN6 has a larger face to back, a flatter crown, and a larger overall face. This makes it more appealing for those golfers who need extra forgiveness.
