The skinny: A cavity-back with a classic look and a soft, forged feel is PXG’s latest better-player product. It delivers excellent control and feel while delivering a hint of forgiveness.
The Deep Dive – In March, PXG launched the 0311 GEN6 P & XP Irons. These irons can be classified as a distance iron for better players and a club that improves game. But last September, Scottsdale-based PXG introduced the 0317ST, a blend-iron set which combined muscleback blades on the 3- and 4-irons and cavity-back blades from the 5-iron to pitching wedge. The concept was that top players wanted the best in precision and feel for their mid-and short-irons but would accept some forgiveness for long-iron shots.

PXG has released the new 0317CB, a set of cavity-back golf irons that is designed for players with low handicaps and powerful swings who want to feel and control the course.
The 0317 CBs, like the previous releases, are triple-forged with 8620 carbon steel. Each head’s back is milled precisely to create the shapes that the designers intended. PXG engineers added a weight to the back of every head, which can be adjusted during the fitting to let golfers try out different swing weights. Golfers can feel the difference in performance between the heavier and lighter versions. PXG does not allow the weight to be swapped or removed once it has been installed during the assembly of the clubs.

The 0317 CB Irons are made of solid metal, unlike the hollow 0311 GEN6 Irons that are filled with polymer and softened to enhance sound and feel. The 0317 CB irons have a smaller blade, a thinner topline and a narrower sole compared to the 0311 GEN6P irons.
The 0317 irons are available as a complete set or individually. This allows control-oriented players to create their own custom set by working with fitters.
The 0317 CB Irons come in a chrome or Xtreme Dark finish.
