CHERRY HILLS COMMUNITY, COLO. — Only three golfers have won the U.S. Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open, NCAA Individual Championship and Amateur: Jack Nicklaus, Bryson deChambeau and Bryson Woods.
DeChambeau was the NCAA champion at SMU, in 2015. Two months later, DeChambeau won the U.S. Amateur at Olympia Fields near Chicago. Amateur at his fifth appearance. In 2020, he took home his first major championship at Winged Foot New York.
DeChambeau played at Cherry Hills Country Club in 2012, the site of this year’s U.S. In his second appearance at the championship, DeChambeau played at Cherry Hills Country Club.
DeChambeau returned to the property on Thursday afternoon and watched some of Round of 16 matches. He took pictures, signed autographs and even followed a few groups. He hit two shots with a persimmon-colored driver on the Arnold Palmer tee of the first hole. Palmer had famously driven the green at the 1960 U.S. Open in the final round.
