Rees Jones’ renovated Monster Golf Club, located in Monticello (New York), has reopened a new layout that incorporates portions of the Old International Course at the property and the Concord Monster Course. Resorts World Catskills invested $40 million in a new layout that took five years to complete.
The original Monster layout was designed by Joe Finger in 1963 and had been closed for several years. Jones used the holes and corridors of the two previous courses to create the 7,650-yard par-72 Monster Golf Club located in the Catskill Mountains, about two hours from Manhattan. Troon Golf, based in Arizona, will manage the public-access course.
In a press release, Uri Jimenez, director of golf at Monster Golf Club said that the opening of any new golf course was a momentous occasion. “To do so in the Catskills is truly special,” he added. The magic of Rees Jones will be omnipresent on the 18-hole course, and the hospitality excellence provided by Resorts World Catskills and Troon Golf will provide golfers with an unparalleled experience at the Monster Golf Club.
Six sets of tees are available to suit any level of player. The golf club is located at The Alder, Resorts World Catskills newest boutique hotel.
Robert DeSalvio said in a press release that the grand reopening is a landmark moment for Resorts World Catskills, as it fulfills the vision for this incredible property. We are proud to fulfill our commitment to the Catskills Community to reimagine this legendary golf course and reinvigorate it in partnership with Rees Jones. We are excited to welcome golfers around the globe to take on the Monster.”
